v15.2 - Enterprise Architect Lite Edition
« on: November 26, 2020, 11:23:51 am »
From the Registered Users Download Section page:
The read-only edition of Enterprise Architect can be distributed with UML models, to staff or to customers. The Lite edition supports all viewing functions in the latest Enterprise Architect release, however, documentation generation and all 'update' ability has been disabled.
... Latest Version: 14.1 Build 1429 06-Mar-2019

I presume the statement needs to be amended...  (Or is it still true?)

If memory serves, Sparx are not supporting a Lite addition any more - so no the statement doesn't need updating.

Indeed, Jon, they have stopped developing the Lite Edition.

Consequently, from first principles, as the rendering capabilities of succeeding versions update and the Lite doesn't, they MUST ipso facto diverge.  As a result, in my view, the statement cannot be true through the effluxion (love that word!) of time.

I haven't run a recent test, but so far, we seem to be able to have gotten away with it.  But for how much longer?

Happy Friday everyone!

I have a vague recollection that some one said as they have Cloud Pro Server and Prolaborate they felt they didn't need the lite edition of Sparx EA anymore. May have been in this forum in fact.
Happy to help
:)

Yes, that's the almost certainly the case, but you have to pay for PCS and while the expense is not necessarily huge, any friction in getting EA (initially accepted in the wider business) is an impediment.

All I'm saying is that the text needs to be amended.

For the moment, awaiting some further testing, we are able to "get away" with EA Lite.
