HELP!!! centers the element in current view

Hi,guys!
 I want to simulate the behavior of the item "locate in current diagram" in menu of project browser. it can centers specific element in the current view. But I find no relevant API.
Who knows the API or having other ideas to simulate it . Thanks a lot

I think we had this question here before and IIRC the answer was no, unless you are willing to simulate mouseclicks/keypresses
