Connector behind Label/Element
« on: August 10, 2021, 03:55:48 am »
Hey Guys,

in this Post (https://www.sparxsystems.com/forums/smf/index.php/topic,29998.msg219578.html#msg219578) it was mentioned that it is not possible to set the Connector behind an Element. But the post ist more than 10 years old, so i just wanted to ask if there is an option to do that in the meantime. We have a Shape with the Name label directly above the Element and the connectors go through the label. Or maybe you have another solution.

Thanks!

Reawel

Hi Reawel,
No, you can't directly suppress that behaviour.  You can change the line style and the route of the line. Or you can suppress a segment of the line (once you use custom line style), but that can be difficult to follow.  Use the connector context menu to investigate the possibilities.

HTH,
Paolo

Brings back memories (one of my former lifes as "beginner"). And that nothing has changed :-/

No. It was wished that is should be possible to do that, but there were reasons (and in that case I think they were for good). Either you  root the connectors around the label or you position the label elsewhere (since it's a label that should be possible).

Before you ask: to add a picture you need to place it on a public server and use the link,

q,

This thread is about labels v15.2 – Arc labels do/don’t override line
This one (as I understand Reawel) is about elements.  In rectangular mode, there is NO label (much to our chagrin).  The text is in a fixed position and orientation.

That was why I mentioned the pictures. The awkward way to attach pictures to those threads here makes it difficult to explain issues.
