Linking EA to DOORS
« on: February 17, 2022, 01:30:33 am »
This topic may have been addressed earlier, but here goes...

We have Enterprise Architect v15.2 installed and the client is setup on a XenApp server for users.  We also have Rational DOORS v9.7.2 installed on a server with the client setup in VDI (Citrix).  When we open a project, then drill down into the Package, going up to the Specialize tab, and under the Add-ins, select the DOORS dropdown for "Connect External Project", it responds with "Please open DOORS database".  It acts as if EA is not seeing DOORS.  This of course is after having the DOORS app open, and a module open as well.

I've seen other forums that state EA doesn't work in a DOORS Web Access or Citrix environment.  We don't use DOORS Web Access, but we are setup in the Citrix (VDI) environment.

Any suggestions??  Thanks!

Hmpf. Once we worked with DOORS and sorted it out to writing export scripts for DOORS and import scripts in EA side to do synchonisation. Worked pretty well and wasn't too much of work (relatively...). The DOORS add-in was no fit for our needs.

I asked our IT counterpart to install the EA client on the same server as DOORS.  It worked.  I could then connect from EA to a DOORS module.  So, the plan is to have both DOORS and EA in the VDI environment.  I'll then test the connection again to see if it works.  I'll update this post with the results.
