Can you open attached files in html export from SparxEA?
« on: May 27, 2022, 07:58:35 am »
We have attached multiple files to elements in our SparxEA database (using v15.2 on local machines, no file servers).  When viewing the models in SparxEA we get the little red A in the bottom corner of the icon and can access the attached documents from the Document window.  When we export the model to an HTML file, we still see the little read A and we see the icons for the attached documents in the Document window in the browser, but there's nothing clickable in the browser window to open the attached file.  Is there a way to export the models to html and still be able to access the attached files?

Hi

On the HTML generation dialog, there is an option to include Hyperlinked files. That might solve your problem.

Can you elaborate on what you mean when you say you have attached multiple files, how are they attached? As hyperlink to files, Linked documents or a third way?

They are attached as linked documents to the Sparx element.

Strange. Which kind of element are you using and which kind of document template?

element type/stereotype is System.  The attached docs are pdf and zip files.

I'm a bit confused. A Linked Document is text based on a template, stored with the element. You cannot use Docs and PDF files as linked documents on elements. If you add links to files from the Properties dialog, it will not show up as an 'a' on the element and will only be included in the generated HTML if you select include hyperlinked files on the HTML generator dialog.

I did both on a Class element, generated HTML and both the linked document and the linked file showed up nicely.

Can you provide me with a sample of your model?

You must place it on a public server and use the link (with the image icon above or as pure link). Welcome to the 21st century.
