v16 - Notes vertices do not respond to setting Notes size

We have a convention that if we use a special text "widget" ("<--+-->") in the Item Notes property;  text before the widget represents the normative definitions of something, and what follows the widget is a discursive text designed to help the user understand more about the normative definition and the nature of the item itself.
We have even created a special script to seek out the widget and automatically adjust the Notes size accordingly.  The automation equivalent of [Ctrl+Shift+Y] | Show Element Compartments | [X] Notes ! Element Notes Maximum Notes [<correct value>].  This means the user sees ONLY the normative definition on that particular diagram.

This has worked very successfully over the years.  Interestingly, we haven't used it for Notes items in the past.  Imagine our surprise when we tried this on a Notes item; it didn't respond to the automation (NOR, we discovered to the manual intervention).  A Notes item will resolutely ignore user requests to set the visible Note rendering size.

It is a defect, isn't it?

None of the options on that dialog apply to Note elements, that's why the dialog itself can't be shown for Note elements.

I can see they do...  But why?  I would have thought that whether they were rendered as formatted notes or not might apply, and thus their length might also be available.

There are all sorts of specialised notes functions available; perhaps adding this "sliver" of the [Cntrl+Shift+Y] functionality would also be appropriate?

Because they exist to show their content on diagrams. If you don't want to show longer notes, don't add more. If you don't want to show formatting, don't use it.

On Some diagrams, we want to show all text; on others, not.  For non-Notes items, you let the user choose how much to show. On Note items, you don't.  Simple as that.

A quick perusal of the UML 2.5.1 Specification doesn't appear to indicate how much text needs to be displayed in the symbol.  There's also no indication that vertices have Notes compartments. Yet they do in EA...  Just observing the self-inconsistency.
