Add notes to Attributes?

By memory there is a mechanism for adding notes to attributes, etc belonging to Elements.
However, I can no longer find HOW to do this.

Does anyone know the magic behind this?

You have to have the Notes window open/docked. Select the attribute in the Features window (it will try to alter any of the columns; just ignore that). Click into the notes window and place the notes. Now select another attribute and the one again. You should see the notes alter accordingly. EAUI
