Connectors
« on: January 11, 2024, 01:58:41 am »
I have created an integration diagram with  interface and data behaviours  and used the serve relationship. I had to expand the Interface Element to link a number of Information System and Business Information Elements. When I did this the diagram became a complete mess as the Serve Relationship did not move with these. How can I lock in the relations to stop this happening?

Thank you

Dan

I think the problem Dan is experiencing is cause by a preference causing the diagrams to auto layout on opening or saving. Have had the same issue before but it’s not an easy preference to find, even Google returns loads of irrelevant information.

Where is the preference causing diagrams to auto layout? All Dan needs to do is disable it.

I don't think that option exists.

The only thing I can thing of that is somewhat related is the checkbox to auto-layout the diagram when doing "add related elements"

Dan’s preferences cannot be the same as the ones used by his colleagues because he is having a completely different and annoying user experience on the same version of Sparx EA. I seen this happening before but cannot recall how we fix it.

I thought there was a forum thread covering this but can’t find it.

There is definitely something strange going on with Sparx EA version 16.1.1628 (plus PCS), both 64-bit.

I have not manage to reproduce Dan's problem but found another very annoying problem. I have a diagram using a matrix, each time I open a previously saved clean version, I find it with the row boundaries rearranged/repositioned; specifically I does not seem to respecting the spacing between the row/horizontal boundaries and the elements contained within each row. In a nutshell, it shifting the elements upwards in such a way that they are no longer within the row and, therefore, they don't move when resizing the row.
