How do you simulate continuous monitoring of a signal in a state chart?

I would like my state chart to trigger an event cyclically. I'm not sure if EA has some timing event for example like after 1 second, a signal is triggered and I can set the parameters. I was thinking of something like a self-transition where I can monitor the signal.
