Once upon a time I used a not very well documented Sparx EA feature, it displayed numbers above elements on a diagram. I would like to use it again but, on V16.1.1628, don't seem to find how to do it.

I have tried a number of Google answers, some of them AIed, none of them work. The closest was to check the "Show Sequence Numbering" option on Start/Preference/Diagram, but it doesn't do anything presumably because it is not a sequence diagram, also the elements are ArchiMate data objects.

Aliases are out of the question because they are used for something else.

Open a diagram and look at the Properties view.
There are 3 sub tabs named Diagram, Compartments and Object ZOrder.
The last one is what you are looking for.
Open this sub tab and select one entry ==> number will show up next to each diagram element.

Thank you Michael. Sparx Systems found a nice place to hide it, t would never crossed my mind to select an element in the Object ZOrder tab to get the numbers displayed in the diagrams.
