Deployment diagram to Excel table?
« on: October 03, 2013, 03:26:32 am »
Hi All,

I am a neophyte self taught EA user running into a conundrum. I did a quick search and couldn't find what I was looking for so I'll try posting.

I am trying to create a CM list of all of our software and packages as a table in Excel. We already captured our IT landscape in EA, so I was hoping that there was a report format that spat out the deployment diagram tabularly in Excel so I could just delete the information I didn't want and build from there.

I have so far been unable to find the report option to do this ( I assume this exists).

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you open the diagram, then right click in the Project Browser and choose View Diagram As ... List, this will change the diagram to a table with the elements etc.  You can cut/paste that into Excel.

Thank you! That was very helpful.

To add just a little to your explanation. Once the tabular view comes up there is a "glasses over a sheet of paper" icon providing the options: view notes and notes options. This will allow you to get at your notes (which is where I stored a lot of information about the components).
