Importing an MSAccess 2007 data model
« on: January 22, 2014, 08:20:21 pm »
Hello All

I can import the schema for an Access 2003 MDB file into my Professional Edition of EA (v.10) but when I try the same thing with a 2007 accdb file, it crashes EA.

Anyone know how to do this ?

thanks

Just an idea: try checking Jet4 in Tools/Options.

Hi Q.

Did this and set it to Jet 4, which enabled the MDB file to be imported, but it crashes when an ACCDB file is attempted to be imported.

Bought the book Enterprise Architect for Business Analysts BTW ! Am working my way through it. Is this yours or are you just promoting it ?

It's mine :-) The reason for using the q. are the end of a long story (I'm here on this forum for 10 years). If you have any questions feel free to contact me directly.

There is a recent thread talking about accdb. Use the Search button top left using ACCDB as keyword.

Thanks q.

I really love EA but some things are a little frustrating, like spending ages sorting a diagram out so the connectors between objects are lined up nicely, then coming back to the diagram a few days later and it moves some lines when you next open the diagram !

I will make use of your knowledge when I get stuck if I can't find out the answer mself.

Many thanks

Matthew

Matthew

Off the thread but in terms of diagrams - having used EA for over a decade I came across a really useful addin from Helmut Ortmann to sort out lines at touch of a button which is on the Sparx community site (http://community.sparxsystems.com/community-resources/745-toolset-to-set-linestyle-quick-search-and-a-lot-more). Saves a lot of time.

And of course - once the diagram is done, Lock it - an option from the right click context menu on the diagram;  the objects shouldn't move then.

:o I think all such things are happening because your Access database accdb file is not supported by the Professional Edition of EA (v.10). so in that case will suggest you to convert .accdb file into .mdb format. Well it’s too easy to convert accdb to mdb. To know complete of it’s step, check out the following link: ::)
