Diagram filters
« on: February 20, 2014, 08:09:06 pm »
Hi,

I have a mesh of classes and connectors. It is used to represent the multiple relationships between several entities. It looks confusing with all the connectors looking like a spider web on the diagram, so I used a filter to hide all the connectors.

When I click on a class, I would like to see all the classes it connects to with their connectors. How can I do this?

Note: the main display is where all the connectors are hidden. When clicking on a class, the relevant connectors (and classes) should be visible.

Thanks,
Minna

Not completely what you want but there is a way to highlight a single connectors red/green for outgoing/incoming (or was it vice versa?). Unfortunately I do not remember how this is done  :-[ But maybe someone else knows and can post it here.

Select the element and press L.

Eventually press Alt and release L, then Alt.

So I should select the element, press L, then press Alt, then release L, then release Alt? If I do this, nothing happens...

When you select the element and press L then the connectors o the element get highlighted. When you release L it turns back normal.

Now if you press L, Alt, release L, release Alt, then the highlight is stable until the next key/click event.

If nothing happens: which EA version do you use?

Hi,

Yes, I understand and I get the result as stated when using classes.

My problem is that I have built my own toolbox with Profile Helpers, so when clicking on my element (extension of metaclass Class with shape script) my connectors doesn't change since they have their own shape scripts.

Is there any other solution to my original post?

Thanks,
Minna

Have u tried enabling "Context Filter"??

It still works with relationships hidden...

Thanks! Context Filter works nicely, when it works.... The problem is that if I have used diagram filters, turning some off and on, then context filter does not work any more.

Even when I have turned all the filters off, context filter does not highlight the relationships any more. I have to close and re-open EA for context filter to show the relationships again.

Is this an EA bug?

I'm unable to replicate the pattern, but definitely worth dropping a note to the support team [email protected] and getting it clarified..
