Level numbering in diagrams

Does anyone know if there is a way to show level numbering in diagrams?   I'd like to have the numbers show in a BPMN diagram, in addition to the name.

Not that I've found, and there is no official solution:

"This option is only available for packages, and the numbering only applies to the elements in the package, not diagrams."
