Diagram changed by addin not reported as modified

I change elements on diagrams programmatically and save the changes.
I execute the built-in diagram search "Recently Modified Diagrams" but the changed diagrams do not appear.

Any ideas? Is it the regular behavior? What can I do in order to overcome it except changing the diagram properties in addition?

I guess that programatic diagram changes are not reflected. You should report it as bug. As a work-around modify the diagram properties along with your automated change.
