HTML Report & Element Notes
« on: March 31, 2015, 10:22:46 pm »
Hi,

is it possible to confige the HTML Report (WebStyle Templates) to generate all element notes directly in the content view?

When creating pdf reports, all element (components) notes are displayed near the diagram itself. <- great

In HTML reports i have to search anywhere in the left navigation and then clicking on the element itself. Nobody can find such notes if he doesn't know where to search in the tree ...

IMHO if your notes are so important that people are searching for them, then maybe they are not just notes: they are more important. Perhaps create a stereotype of some element type, and put the 'note' content into them.
Diagram notes are a 2nd class 'thing' in EA, which is fine by me.

Every component in my component diagrams has a short description. In html reports you have no chance to display these notes / descriptions. The only chance to see the description is searching by navigating in element tree. That is exteemely worse i think ...

Descriptions realized by using stereotypes ... not really

or, maybe ... i haven't seen the right solution for such a simple requirement.

For core developers, it's easy to know what the components are doing, but for anybody else a short description is more than useful.

The simple solution is to get them using EA Lite instead of looking at a HTML report. Then you do have search by notes.

Hi Simon,

i don't want "search by notes", i just want to see the notes when i see the diagram. There is no need to search for them. (Like in a pdf report)

If you want them to appear in the diagram you have two choices.

1. Depending on the element type you can show the notes compartment.
2. You can create a linked note set to display the notes from the element.
