Replica synchornization error
« on: May 08, 2015, 02:27:42 am »
Hi all,
I tried to synchronize two replicas, of two separeted team.
The two projects are two replica of the same inital project.
The two projects have the same models, and the same internal hierarchy.

When I exectue the synchronization the following popup error occurs:

"Two members of the replica set cannot be synchronized because here is no common point to start the synchronization".

No other informations, no other actions I can perform to reselve the confilcts.

Can anyone help me to synchronize the two project?

Thank you

I have a simple answer: stay away from Mickeysoft Access Replication. Trust it only as far as you can throw it.

Have you tried Sparx Support? Maybe, they are able to help you.

Do you want to say Microsoft?

I have Microsoft Access 2013, and it seems don't work as MA 1997; MA2013 don't open the EAP file.

The .eap files are actually Microsoft Access databases with another extension.
If you change the extension from .eap to .mdb you should be able to open it with MS Access.

The replication you are having issues with is in fact nothing more then MS Access replication betwee MS Access database files.

I sure hope you have good backups.

Also if I change the extension in .mdb MS Access don't open it, because appear the messages:

"Impossibile aprire un database creato con una versione precedente dell'applicazione"

= (like)

"Cannot open a database created with a previous versione of the application"

The message you see might be simply misleading and the contents is simply scrapped (for whatever reason).

If you don't have a backup Sparx support might be able to help you recovering your file.

The original error message sounds to me like you had two separate copies of an eap file, then after they had diverged tried to enable replication to merge them again. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way.

The current versions of Access won't open old eap files, but somewhere on our site there should be a sql script to create an Access db compatible with the newer versions of Access, which you could then do a DB transfer to. Alternatively, there could be an import/upgrade feature hidden in your version of Access. I just wouldn't know where.
