Defining toolbox in MDG based on standard one
« on: June 12, 2015, 12:08:29 am »
Hello,

I have some problems with defining toolboxes in MDG. I succeed to customize my own menus except when I try to display a standard menu on new type of diagram.

Here is the definition of one of my new type of diagram called Concept which is an extension of the Class diagram.

If I don’ specify the Toolbox Profile, in the diagram extension I obtain the standard menu of a class diagram.

My need is or to add a third toolbox either to add lines in an inherited toolbox from the ‘Class’ toolbox. Thus I’ve tried different solutions, all without success (I don’t find anything on this subject nor in the user’s guide neither in the forum).
Here is one of my tries (with no entries in toolboxes) but impossible to display information from the Class toolbox.

A second question/problem : how to extend a BPMN diagram ? Indeed it is not listed in the extension type when you create a diagram extension.

You'll find text and screenshots of this message here : https://www.dropbox.com/s/qg72uo342yv3szz/Toolbox%20%26%20MDG.pdf?dl=0

Is somebody can help me ?

Thanks in advance.

Have a nice day.
Vincent.

Hello!

Which version of EA are you using?
Defining MDG has become really easy and is guided step by step since.... EA11?

There is now a model pattern called "MDG building technology" if i recall.

If you don't have many answers... maybe the problem is the question!
  • What do you call a standard menu?
  • "If I don’ specify the Toolbox Profile, in the diagram extension I obtain the standard menu of a class diagram." This is just ... chinese to me (apologies to chinese community)
  • Extend a BPMN diagram? dont get it.
  • dropbox link? dead or not accessible to me.

Use http://snag.gy/ and paste screenshots of your problems here, step by step...

Remember, we can do anything to help if we dont understand. And this is a community, the guy you need is maybe not available right now.

And - it's always a good idea to stick to a single question in one thread.

Here is my need : on a new type of diagram herited from the class diagram, I want to display ...
1.      the standard toolboxes for the classes

2.      new specific toolboxes

Till now using EA11, I don’t succeed to display them together.

I’ve tried different solutions, all without success (I don’t find anything on this subject nor in the user’s guide neither in the forum).
Here is one of my tries - definition  of custom toolboxes in relation with the toolbox page (in the example below, with no entries in toolboxes).

All your trick and your advices are welcome...

PS : Thanks to 'Monsieur' for the site http://snag.gy/

Creating MDGs can be tedious and cumbersome. EA leaves you alone with errors. The only thing you get is: it does not work >:(

I have a little writeup that explains the steps: http://community.sparxsystems.com/tutorials/552-24intro-to-creating-a-mdg-file
