MDG : how to extend a BPMN diagram ?

I would like to create a new type of diagram based on BPMN 2.0 « Business Process » Diagram.

So I use the profile helper « Add Diagram Extension ». The problem is that only the standard UML diagram types are listed.


How to get BPMN diagrams listed ? Or how to extend them ?

I never used those wizards (maybe they are just frightening to me). So I still do it the manual way. And there you can enter the metatype manually (e.g. BPMN2.0::<something>).

Even with manually setting "UML2.0::Business Process", it does not work.

The result is that the newly created diagram with such new defined type has 'Logical' as diagram type.

I had a look in tables t_diagram and t_diagramtypes and I've seen that the "UML2.0::Business Process" is an extension of standard metatype Analysis, but it does not help me. Unfortunately, I don't find where MDG diagram definitions are stored in the DB.

They are held in temporary memory. You need to inspect the MDG files in the EA programs directory.

As said you are quite lost here when it comes to any errors

You can only extend those things that actually exist.

Maybe you meant BPMN2.0::BusinessProcess (and without space)?

I did it with "UML2.0::BusinessProcess". But the result is still the same. :-(

Ok this might be a difficult one: spot the difference between A and B:
A) BPMN2.0::BusinessProcess
B) UML2.0::BusinessProcess

It is not possible to extend extended diagram types. You can only extend the base diagram types.

Also, I would recommend that you only use the provided BPMN diagram types to create BPMN models because some functionality is dependent on the diagram type (e.g. quicklinker)
