Hi Everybody:

Does EA suport the web aplication extension (wae) for uml?

Thanks

To the best of my knowledge no. Or at least I don't remember seeing anything about this.

Where did you find this extension? And who is the original author or publisher if different from your source?

Perhaps if there is enough interest Sparx would put it on their to-do list.

In the meantime take a look at how Sparx has built the BPMN add-in. Perhaps you can create your own extension.
No, you can't have it!

well wae was introduced by rational, it consist of some new uml stereotypes for creating web aplication models like web navigation map, but I think wae is not an uml standar I only saw it in rational rose.

Someone at IBM - around the general time they acquired Rational, but I think earlier - came up with the profile for data modelling. That formed the basis for a book from OMG (or someone, I could be wrong). While the 'final' or even complete specification may never have been published outside of a product - at least I cannot find it for public distribution, it is fairly robust and works well in products like EA.

That said, unless the Rational specification is widely distributed and the intellectualy property is unencumbered, I doubt you'll see a 'factory' add-in for EA.

Still, look into this. If the above conditions are met then you might be able to generate some interest from the community, and then perhaps at Sparx.

WAE Was first inroduced in a book titled UML For Web Design...I think.

I have the book at home, but I'm traveling now and don't have access to it so I can't give you a citation for it now.  When I get home I'll post more information on this.

EA doesn't support WAE at present, but it could be extended to do so (in the diagrams at least) with stereotypes and and EA's drawing facility (can't remember what they call that now...?)

Sorry to be so vague, but I've been on the road too long I guess.
Verbal Use Cases aren't worth the paper they are written upon.

Thanks Jim,

That's the clue I needed. I think there's a copy or two in our corporate library. I'll try taking a look on the weekend.

As promised, the WAE book is:

Building Web Applications with UML by Jim Conallen, Addison Wesley.  My copy is the first edition.

Hope this helps.
