setting SysML Perspective (for toolbox defaults)
« on: April 09, 2008, 02:24:00 pm »
Hi all,

SysML help under "Perspective" shows a way of setting things so that the toolboxes always default to the SysML versions. But I have not found how to activate the pulldown menu that allows you to switch perspectives. There is a nice picture of it in the help, but how can I access it ?

I am running EA (7.1.828) and MDG for SysML 1.0. I am learning SysML and re-learning UML, and learning the EA environment.

Thanks and regards,

Owen

Hello Owen

Enterprise Architect from release 7.0 no longer uses perspectives. We have yet to update the MDG Technology For SysML Help.

To acheive the result you want, enable the Add-In for SysML and make it the active technology (select it in the field in the Default Tools toolbar). This adds the SysML Toolbox pages to the Toolbox as the dominant pages.

If you have normal EA or another MDG as the active technology, You can also select the SysML Toolbox pages from the More Tools menu (at the top of the Toolbox) and pin them to the Toolbox, if you want other pages to be available too.

Try looking at:

http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/EAUserGuide/index.html?uml_toolbox_appearance_options.htm

Look at the note at the end of this topic.  Also look at the parent topic (The Enterprise Architect UML Toolbox) and follow the links to MDG Technologies and UML Profiles, for broader information.

I hope this helps you.

Thanks. That did the trick.

This issue came up because I accidentally spent some time using the wrong toolbox. So that I won't do that again, I am creating a SysML base project. Before I proceed, I thought I'd ask, Do you happen to have a SysML base project file?

Regards,

Owen
