Test plan
« on: April 11, 2008, 02:37:29 am »
Hello,

I'm a french newbie and I would like to known if il's possible to define a test plan in EA ?
For me a test plan is a series of tests to be conducted in a certain result and giving each an outcome to be used by the following test.

Yes, at least sort of.

I don't know if there is an actual sequence with feed of results down the line. There are certainly the 'hooks' for test plans thought.

There's also RAQuest, which you can look up at: http://www.sparxsystems.com/partners/raquest.html

[But I'm not sure. Does anyone know if RAQuest does this?]

No, you can't have it!

EAs capabilities regarding testing support are rather limited.
You can have elements like test cases, you can even create a UML testing profile thus extending the standard elements and enrich them with eg. test dates and results so you can model some sort of test plan which you can then track with TimeArchitect.

However I doubt that this will fulfill more than the very basic requirements of tested yes/no, test date, finished date and some minor issues noted.

For more sophisticated things I believe a test tool (eg. test director) is more appropriate (and more expensive), especially when you have an interface to EA (eg. http://www.standardcase.com/products/modeling/eatd/Pages/default.aspx)

I hope this was useful.
