error/exceptions in use cases
« on: May 12, 2008, 08:08:13 pm »
Hi, how do you model errors/exceptions in use cases? Do you model them as separate use cases that extends a base use case, or alternative flows on the same use case in EA?

As a sidenote, I noticed the UML spec has no reference to alternative flows, so why does EA have it?

I model them as Scenarios and flag them as exceptions by using the type drop down for which I have added 'exception' to the value set via the settings menu.

Alternate views are a standard feature of Use Cases as far as I am aware.
