Best way to model a DLL as Component ?
« on: June 28, 2008, 11:45:01 am »
I am setting up a model for a project that has several dlls.  Each dll is composed of many class files, some of which are interfaces.

What is the best way to use EA to model each dll as a component and have each component relate back to all the class files loaded in the Class model?

I started changing each dll component I created into a composite component, then simply adding all the class files to the composite diagram.  Not sure if this is the recommended practice or not, but it does allow me to double click the composite widget and see the class diagram for the classes compiled into the DLL.

Any ideas on how to do this better?

Thanks

KPB

Perhaps think in terms of a component (in the UML sense) or deployment model, rather than trying to solve this (entirely) at the level of a class model.
No, you can't have it!
