general change of display options of constraints
« on: February 26, 2010, 02:01:29 am »
Hello together,

Some background information:
Enterprise Architect (Corporate Edition) Version 7.1.832 (Build 832) - Unicode.
I opened a Model, Logical View with a Logical Diagramm.
Then import by "Import DB Schema from ODBC" a 'huge' Oracle database (around 250-300 tables with constraints etc).

The first time I did so like above was half a year ago. Now I did the same step twice,
BUT new tables appear (because they are new) and they aren't ordered (this is okay and clear to me, too)
AND the constraints are now changed to "[direct] Custom Line"-Style (although they were ordered by me) and the visibility options ("Source/Target Top Label") are set again, although I unchecked them before on a long working day :( (that very bad).

Is there a way,
1. to STOP the automatic setting to "(direct) Custom Line"-Style and keep old settings and/or
2. keep also the old visibility settings or say that FOR EACH CONSTRAINTS the visibility settings have to be like you want it?

Thx for your help.

Greetings
macgoofy

macgoofy,

There are two places that I would try:
1. the settings, there you can set some defaults about style of connectors and stuff.
2. the template package. In that package you can create elements and diagrams that serve as a template for new elements. Setting options on those diagrams/elements should result in the same setting on new objects.

But of course I'm not sure if the reverse engineering process takes any of these into account.

If you have EA set to layout your diagram after reverse engineering, the layout algorithm relies on custom connectors and it will be doing this.

I don't know why you would be losing your label visibility settings.
