How to view State Machine diagram as Table?
« on: December 04, 2012, 08:59:49 am »
I have a version-controlled (TFS+SQL Server) State Machine diagram. When I have the diagram checked out, I can right-click on the diagram canvas to bring up the context menu and pick one of the Statechart editor options so that I can see either the diagram or a table showing the states and transitions.

However, when the diagram is checked in, as would be the case for most diagrams, the Statechart editor options are grayed out and there does not appear to be a way to see/print the states and transitions tables.

Am I missing something? Surely this should be possible without having to check out diagrams?

Please advise. Thanks in advance,

Dan

I'd select the table then copy it and past it on a word doc as one way or you can export it to a csv file but i couldn't figure a way to keep them both active as one reads from the other ...

Thanks for the suggestion. The last person to edit the diagram would have to always remember to capture a Word version of the changed table and put it someplace. Unfortunately, this is tedious, error-prone, and therefore not ideal.

Is there no way to be able to switch back and forth between the diagram/table views when the package is checked in? Is this a bug or by design?

Probably worth sending in a bug report.
