Activity Diagram Inside State Diagram?
« on: December 09, 2013, 08:13:22 pm »
Hi

I want to put an activity diagram inside a state. Is this possible in EA?

Basically, I am hoping that I can "drill down"into a state and see an activity diagram - not another state.

All the best guys.

you can "drill down" to any diagram you like.
Right click on the state then "New Diagram|Select Composite Diagram"

Thanks Geert. I also dragged an activity diagram from the project explorer directly onto the state machine page.

I guess there are different consequences of doing it these two ways - but I am not aware of them at the moment.

I am just learning it today.

Cheers

For navigation, what Geert said would be the thing to do. If your state executed multiple behaviors, you could drop the behaviors into the diagram for reference and have each behavior setup as composite so you could drill down to them.

For modeling, right click on the state, then choose features and properties, then operations. Create a entry,do,or exit operation, then select it, choose behavior on the left side, then you can choose the activity element from that tab.
