Composition to Part/Whole
« on: May 16, 2015, 03:15:14 am »
Hello, can anyone explain "Composition to Part/Whole"?

I thought I understood composition until I saw this in EA.

Any help is most appreciated.

This had been an issue for a while :-) The rationale behind it is that people got mixed up where the diamond had to be placed. Can't remember which side it was in earlier versions. But now you have the choice to place the diamond on the one or other side from where you drag. (I still have to try the first time after a longer time not using it  ;)).

A connector in EA has source and target (in the API/database). So you can also decide whether the diamond appears on the source or target side. For the person looking at the diagram it does not matter. The diamond is on the side where things are aggregated/composed.

And there´s me convinced it had some hidden finer grain meaning!
Thanks for your help  :)

Pity they don´t mention it anywhere in their help menu.
