Can't delete packages from diagram
« on: March 18, 2008, 10:34:44 pm »
I'm not quite sure about this but it seems to be new with 7.1: It is not possible to completely delete a Package from a Diagram with CTRL-DEL. I have to CTRL-DEL from the Browser. Has anyone else observed this. Is it a bug (smells like that). Or is is documented as new feature?

I have observed this, to my (admittedly minor) dismay. There are some other oddities about how packages are added, though some of these likely started around the time of 7.0.

This can cause unexpected - read "unacceptable" - behavior when using an MDG Technology. Metaclasses based on UML::Package do not operate as expected.

I have mentioned some of these to Sparx in a series of notes and reports, but have received no feedback on most of the issues.

It's certainly not a new feature, it's been that way for a long time.  I always interpreted it as a prevention from accidental deletion of entire package branches.  (It's come in handy for me that way more than once.)

That's kind of how I took it. But for some reason I've noticed it more of late. I suspect this might be that other differences in handling packages versus other elements have sensitized me to this.

Well, I take it for EAUI. CTRL-DEL asks anyway. So why does it silently ignore packages? I gave the answer in my first sentence.
