EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION - Sequence Diagrams
« on: March 31, 2008, 03:42:23 pm »
Hi,

I am creating a sequence diagram for a Java Application using JBoss Application Server. Whenever I hit the breakpoint I am prompted by and EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION and the application shuts down.

I am using
 - EA Program Version 7.1.825 Database Version: 4.01
 - JBoss-4-0.5.GA, MySQL 5

Here's the part of the console error:

#
# An unexpected error has been detected by HotSpot Virtual Machine:
#
#  EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at pc=0x6700f3b4, pid=2484, tid=3424
#
# Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (1.5.0_12-b04 mixed mode)
# Problematic frame:
# C  [SSJavaProfiler71.dll+0xf3b4]
#

Any suggestion will be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi rreese,

The first thing to do is update your EA build. You are running a beta version, and a beta 1 version at that.

EA 7.1 was released as a production system in build 827, and build 828 came out last week.

You can find the release notes for both of the production builds on the EA history page. There is a link in the announcement post for build 828, which you will find in the Latest News section of the forum.

Of course this particular bug could have slipped through. I don't do any Java debugging so I have not been looking for anything related to your problem; it sounds quite specific to the particular situation.

You won't be the only person who needs to run a debugging session with Java though, so hopefully this problem was seen and resolved.

If it is not solved in build 828, then you should report the problem to Sparx directly. Use the Report a Bug link below the Support link near the bottom of any forum page. If you are a registered user don't fill out the form on that page, but click the appropriate link above the form, and you'll get to the correct spot. [You can also click the Registered Users link at the top of any forum page, and use the bug report link near the top of the resulting page.]

No, you can't have it!
