DAO.Field[3107] message
« on: April 11, 2008, 03:43:08 am »
After opening the .eap file and opening the data model, I am getting the following message.

DAO.Field[3197]
The Microsoft Jet database engine stopped the process because you and another person are attempting to change the same data at the same time.

There is an "OK" button and I click it 25 times to finally clear the message. I have 51 tables in the data model. The message appears anytime I save the file too.

I am the only user using this .eap file.

Any suggestions?

I'm just in the process of searching around for information on the same issue.  I don't have the answer either so not much help for you I'm afraid, but doing a google search it seems to be a common pc registry fault and I'm considering trying some cleaning utilities.  However, if anyone else has any ideas I'd be grateful...(cos I'm not that geeky!).  What I would say is that I've noticed more of these funny features having installed the latest version of EA.

Since my note yesterday I've exported all the packages within my problem model and reimported them to a new .eap file and it seems to have done the trick and solved whatever corruption was going on.  I would still like to know the underlying cause if anyone can help.

I did what you suggested in exporting the package and creating a new .eap file and then importing the model. I did not get the error message in the new .eap file. So then I exported the package from the new .eap file and imported the package into my original .eap file. I don't get the error message so I can keep the orginal .eap file. YEAH!!!  I still have not found a cause for it. thanks

Good stuff.  I think it might be something to do with the .ldb file that opens up when you open up the .eap file but I don't really know.  Anyway, as long as there's a way round it for now. :)
