Network Error when connecting to SQL database

I am trying to connect to an EA database stored in SQL server 2005. I have created an connection with the OLE DB for Sql Server and am trying to use a specific user name and password to login instead of Windows NT login. I can successfully test the connection to the database but when I click ok to open the EA project, I get the following error message: "Enterprise Architect has experienced a network error and will close down." I can connect to the database correctly using windows NT login but I need to get the specific sql user login working to allow external contractors to access the database and their computers are not on our domain. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

According to your error message, I was wondering the situation you maybe miss out is data transfer or permission of database.

First, SQL Server repositories are created without any data, so you will need to perform a data transfer in EA to copy a suitable starter project.

Second, Do you have the permission to select, delete, insert and update data at the SQL Server database.

A good test would be to connect to the DB through management studio with the required SQL login and test the permissions.

I'm with Ning on this.

I have seen the same error when a SQL Server repository was not initialized first.

[I've not seen it since EA 5.x, but that's the last time I tried to connect to an uninitialized SS repository.]
