Bookmarks in RTF documentation not working
« on: July 14, 2008, 01:58:55 am »
I'm trying to generate a design document using diagrams from a Master/Model RTF report generated by EA 7.1 (build 829) using the autogenerated bookmarks to select text.

I've used bookmarks without problems using Word 2003 and simple RTF reports, but when I try "Insert | Text from file" using Word 2007 I get an InsertText field code in my document that seems to contain all the right bookmark information, but no text or diagram.

I opened the generated RTF in notepad and found that all the bkmkstart tags are next to the bkmkend tags for the diagrams that I want, rather than enclosing each diagram.

Doesn't look right to me, but I'm also surprised it worked before.

I just generated a diagrams only RTF report and it works fine. I opened the RTF in notepad and the bookmark tags wrap around the diagrams as I'd expect.

Is this a bug, or is there a feature of Master/Model documents that I'm not using properly?

Hello Phil,

I have tried this using a {basic template} with a sub-package bookmark and did get the required section of the document using Word 2002.  The section was updated in Word.
Check point 6 in the Help on this - see:

I tried it again, following the steps exactly as described in the "Create a Master Document" section of the help.

Exactly the same result. The master document generates and looks OK when I go to Element | RTF Report, but it isn't possible to insert the diagrams from the master document into another document.

The model documents that go into the master generate correctly on their own and I can include their diagrams.

I have a similar problem as Phil.

Almost all bookmarks are "empty" and are situated in front of the element which should be bookmarked.

This effect occurs only using virtual documents with a Master Doc and Model Docs. In this case it is no difference in using self defined or standard RTF templates which I yesterday supposed to be the problem.

Whenever I use the Packages defined in a Model Doc using the RTF Template associated to the Model Doc for a manually triggered RTF-Documentation I'll get the correct bookmarks.
