Automation Bug in 832 build
« on: August 17, 2008, 03:33:48 am »
Hi,

I'm using the interop.dll from C# to communicate with EA. In build 831 when I add a packge to the packages collection and call update() everthing works fine. Without changing code but using build 832 I get an error. I tried updating my refrence to the interop.dll but the same thing happens. I believe there may be a bug in 832. I'm getting colleagues to confim.

I once saw something similar, and it did come down to a reference tweak.

I think I needed to actually remove the reference in the VS project, then delete the copy of the interop file in the project binary directory (if the reference was set to copy, which it normally is), then create the reference again and recompile.

Try that and see if it works. Sorry I cannot test it for you. I've not encountered this for some time, so I don't have a project handy where it seems to apply.

Hi,
I have the same problem and I'm quite sure I cleaned all .dll in binary directory.

Do you have some solution?

I sent that possible error to SparxSupport on Friday... :(

Hi,
i have the same problem and here is the answer I have got from sparx support:

Thank you for your report.  We have been able to reproduce this issue and unfortunately this appears to have been introduced in EA build 832.

Issue ID: 08082069

Hopefully a fix should be implemented for the next build of EA, but we cannot say yet when this may be available.  Until the fix is available, the only workaround is to downgrade your EA installation to EA 831 (or lower) if possible.

We apologise for this inconvenience.

There's a real catch-22 here. We rarely see breaking issues with incremental builds, but this is one. While you can download the final build of a previous version (i.e. something with a major and minor version number) you cannot download earlier builds of the current version.

I suggest you send an email to Sparx support, giving you user ID from your license email, as well as ensuring that you cite the email of record for your account. I'm sure that they can set something up on a one-time basis.

David

PS: If you read this soon after I post it, do this right away since Sparx is in Australia and might be able to respond before you start business tomorrow (whatever that is for your location).

Answer from Sparx:

Hello Zdenek,

Just to follow-up on the below report, a copy of the EA 7.1 build 831 installer can be downloaded from the following link (if needed) to allow you to work around this issue until a fix has been implemented. http://www.sparxsystems.com/securedownloads/easetupfull831.exe
