SVN problems in .832 with Wine
« on: August 23, 2008, 05:29:45 am »
I use EA under Linux with wine (I know sparx recomedns cross-office, but it really works with no blocking issues under wine 2.0).

After I upgraded to build 832, though, I can't work with versioned packages anymore - once I configure a package to say it is versioned, the sub-menu under "package control" simply won open.  (I can see it blinking, but then it closes).

If I tell EA I am "offline" with regards to the version control system, the menu is displayed again (but it is  useless then). If I mark myself as online, it just reverts to the non-working behavior.

Had anyoen else faced this issue?

I am using wine 1.0, private packages, SVN client version 1.4.6

I just saw that there is now a separate installer for use with Wine emulation for version 832, from sparx.

When installing from that file, the problem went away.

Is there any prevision for  a true multiplatform release of EA?
Working with wine barely cuts it -- as a developer myself I can see little reasons for big sofwtare projects to be tied up to a single paltform these days.
All best libraries for nearly anything are available in a multiplatform way, with a liberal (and gratis) licensing scheme.
