Just installed eval copy Error Opening program
« on: August 29, 2008, 04:48:38 am »
I am getting a error that says Error creating XML Parser.  Is there some prereq that is missing or something?

It doesn't matter which mode I try to open (I want to eval in Professional mode).

Frank,
Thanks for the quick reply.  Let me clarify my situation a little and see if it helps.

I am running Win XP sp2.
I uninstalled and reinstalled EA (selecting "only me" option).
I installed MSXML4 sp2.

received the same error.

I uninstalled and reinstalled EA (selecting "only me" option) again.

received the same error.

This product holds great promise and I am thankful to sparx for creating it. (Now, if I could just run it :)

Hi Chuck,

I'm just guessing here, but this might be worth a shot while you wait for the Sparxians to sort this out.

First, uninstall EA (yet again).

Open the registry and delete the entire Enterprise Architect tree. There will likely be some stuff left over from your prior install. Check both the machine and user hives, and delete anything from either.

Make sure you installed MSXML4 from an administrator account, [I think you had to do this anyway] and that you rebooted your machine since.

Finally, install EA from an account that has administrator rights - even if you will use it from an account that will be restricted - to see if EA picks everything up. If you do the installation for all users, EA will still treat each user separately. It will simply be visible to all users on their menu.

If that works you are home free. I suspect - without proof - that you can then uninstall and reinstall EA, without deleting anything from the registry this time, as a single-user installation.

Please let us know what happens.

David
No, you can't have it!

Thanks David.  Still no luck.  I look forward to the other replies and will pick this up tomorrow.
