Problems with UI

Version: 7.1 build 833
A couple of problems I am seeing with my eval version -

When trying to open EA I will sometimes get 'Failed to create empty document.'

The other problem I am seeing -
The first day I used EA I had no problems with this but now when I open the EA UI the menu selections work sometimes but not other times. ( e.g. Selecting 'View' off the main window does not bring up the sub-menu ). Sometimes none of the sub-menu selections work. Any ideas?
