Error on Startup DAO.Recordset[3197]

Recently, whenever I try to open a model previously created, I get an annoying modal dialog that exclaims:

!<WARNING SYMBOL>
DAO.Recordset[3197]
The Microsoft JET engine database stopped the process because you and another user are attempting to change the same data at the same time.

This message appears 13 times when I am opening a model (the same number of times as objects I have defined in the model).  The model is on my local hard drive,  not shared, not being accessed by any other system or user.  What could be the problem?  :-/
