Author Topic: Sync needed to have tagged values available (Read 4973 times)

Hi,

I have created a custom UML profile with a stereotype for UML attributes. The stereotype itself has a few attributes which will be applied as tagged values.

I imported the profile into the resources and a toolbox is available afterwards.

My problem:
If I add an attribute by dragging the stereotype from the toolbox to a diagram, all tagged values from the UML profile definition are available in the tagged values window. But if I define an attribute by its properties dialog (for example Class properties -> Details -> Attributes -> New) and set the custom stereotype there, no tagged values will be available in the tagged values window. They appear only after I sync the stereotype and my model from the resources window.

To me it seems like a bug that complicates working with custom sterotypes. Or is this on purpose?

I am working with EA 7.1, Build 830, Corporate Edition.

I know, I am repeating myself here and propably will soon be blacklisted by Sparx for doing this :)

The situation is even worse- the resource window is no longer the recommended way to work with UML profiles and with MDG technology files as the standard way there even is no sync capability any more.

This is the most annoying issue for me of a (besides this) great tool.

Guess I'll join you on the blacklist. Don't know why they answer all questions concerning profiles but choose to ignore this one every time it comes up.

I have recently just deployed my profiles in an MDG technology, and I'm now in the same boat! I thought that I had actually found a way to sync the tagged values but it's no good either.

What I have been doing is simply deploying my technology through the 'MDG technologies...' option, and then also importing my UML profiles through the resources window and syncing the tagged values from here. However I don't want a duplicate of the same tool set.

Is there any avenues we can go down to get this issue prioritised? It would be awesome to sync tagged values easily- without using the resources!

From the next beta, you should be able to do it from the toolbox.
