Version control XML list shows deleted XML

When trying to get a package from version control and select a given Version Control Configuration, the list shows all XML files present in the root directory of this Version Control Configuration but also XML files that were previously deleted from the Source Control application. Over time, this list becomes longer and quite hard to manage. I am using Perforce. Someone has an idea how to clean-up that list to hide deleted XML?
