Edit OBJECT name in project browser error

An object named PARTICIPANT
is Displayed as PARTICIPANT :Authorized Functions
and the name changes to PARTICIPANT :Authorized Functions
once the name is edited in the Project Browser
and the user does not remove the ":Authorized Functions" trailer

Am i missing something?
I don't see the difference between the name "PARTICIPANT :Authorized Functions" and "PARTICIPANT :Authorized Functions", and I certainly don't understand what the problem is.
