Headers and Footers in RTF Master documents

I'm not sure how to explain this, other than headers ands footers on templates attached to master documents simply don't seem to work.
I've tried generating a template from scratch, I've tried importing an existing RTF document, and I've tried using one of the default templates that comes with the product.
Sometimes I get them and some times I don't. Sometimes I only get the header, sometimes I get the rest of document ones but not the first page one. They can be working and then just disappear when I change something else in the template.
Is this just me, or do headers and footers with virtual documents simply not work?

Have just upgraded to build 848 and the problem has gone. Don't know why because previous versions didn't display the problem.

Build 848 seems to have been released primarily to address some RTF issues.
