Windows 7 64-bit
« on: October 24, 2009, 01:50:26 am »
Just re-built my development machine to Windows 7 64-bit and having a few oddities, this is with EA 7.5 Ultimate build 849

1. Nothing shows under Addins even though I've installed everything.
2. Certain MDGs are present e.g. Iconix, SystemC, Verilog but others aren't Zachmann, Togaf, Dodaf.
3. If I try to load the Zachmann example it hangs for a long time and then tells me that the file is locked.

Are there any known isssues with running on a 64-bit OS?

I've run 7.5 ultimate on Win7 (x64 and x86) and had a similar experience only when I had multiple accounts set up on the same machine (same issue on 32 and 64 bit OS).  One being a member of the Administrators group (the one I used for installation) and another account with regular user privileges.  My primary work account was the regular user account.  To get the addins to show up in my work account I needed to create addin registry entries that I copied over from the Administrator account.  The registry entries I copied were in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sparx Systems\EAAddins.

Stan.

Ah, that's it - with the admin user prompt being so simple in Win7 I hadn't given my account admin rights.

Interesting question as to whether these registry settings should be in the user or software hive though

Ok, the issue now is that the samples aren't accessible as I don't have rights to the directories.

Really the sample files should be under ProgramData rather than Program Files.

That last issue is being addressed for the next version of EA.
