Navigation to item detail in HTML output

I have a model where some elements have a linked document. With the HTML report output I can get to the item details in two ways: selecting the item in the tree browser or clicking it in a diagram. In the latter case EA displays only the linked document in the main window. When selecting in the tree browser it displays a structured panel with the linked document in a tab, which is what I like.
I cannot really think of a justification for these two behaviors. Is there any way in which I can control what is displayed on selection via the diagram? Or is it just a bug?
