Filtering external requirement with Other Filters
« on: December 18, 2009, 10:19:27 pm »
Hi all.

I'm working with design methodology usin EA (7.1).

I'm using External Requirements for adding some restrictions on several Components. Also i'm using Exnternal Requirement to represents validations on components. At the momento there's no option to use other elements from EA.

While exporting information i need to filter external requirements, so only Validations must be exported to the RTF documentation.

My first option to do this, is using "Other filters" tab on the Document options template. I'm trying do this by adding filter over the "Responsibilty" but there's no way to filter the information.
I have tried with the type, the Name, Status, but does not works.

For example if i set a filter as follows:
Resposibility
   Name equalTo 'MYNAME' required.

It only works on Internal Requirements.

Has anybody any idea about that?

Are the external requirements the so called "Responsibility" elements to filter on in the "Other filters" tab?

Thanks-

I don't think so... EA sometimes refers to internal requirements as Responsibilities.  These are the items you add under the Requirements tab of the element dialog, not the external requirements which are elements of their own.

But if y make a filter for ElementRequirementType, then the element owner that have the External Requirement ni its "Require" tab, does not appears if the conditions does not met.

What i want to do is that the element always appears in the document but only with their external requirement type "Functional" for example.

I do not know if it is possible.

(IIRC) The responsibilities section of the RTF generator deals ONLY with the internal responsibilities of the element - which YOU have to ADD directly to the element (via the Tab) and are held within it.  The External Requirements are linked to the Tab by EA - but are not held there.  It's a presentation thing, not a structural thing.
