Performance slow on Linux/CrossOver
« on: December 29, 2009, 08:11:29 am »
Dear all,
I recently purchased EA 7.5 and successfully installed it on Linux (Kubunty 9.04, Crossover 8.0.0) as described in http://www.sparxsystems.com/support/faq/ea_on_linux.html.
Unfortunately as soon as I open a UML diagram the performance of the application especially the graphic screen refreshes are very slow.
This almost makes it impossible to scroll on larger diagrams.
Is there a solution for this problem ?

Best regards

Hi Andreas,

We have noticed performance problems with a particular version of xorg when EA's renderer is set to Enhanced. If you set it to Basic (Tools | Options | Diagram | Appearance from the Main Menu) you should notice an appreciable difference.

We tested this on a distro of Fedora that had a newer version of xorg and it didn't seem to encounter the same problems, so if you can find a way to upgrade xorg it may fix it. I haven't had a chance yet to test it on Karmic Koala, but once I have I'll let you know if there were any improvements there.  8-)
Best Regards,

Michael

Hi Michael,
Many thanks for the quick answer !
Your hint helped a lot !
Until I manage to upgrade my system to Kubuntu 9.10 I am able to work again.

Many thanks !
