Locked objects
« on: January 15, 2010, 09:03:48 pm »
Dear All,
I'm creating a SysML Internal Block diagram; I've created all the required parts with ports on them. In most cases i was able to create links between ports but some (valid!) connections can't be created because: "Both the Start and the End objects are locked. You cannot create a link at this time". I've checked 'My Locks' there are none.

Did anyone had a similar problem?

Regards

Maybe that is the problem, that you haven't locked the elements.
Which type of security setup are you using? The "require lock to edit" mode?

I'm using a Corporate version and I'm not the admin so I can't really check it... But the thing is that for some ports I can create connections for some I can't - there doesn't seem to be a logical pattern. All the objects are in the same package so they're all checked-out.

That's strange, and you can edit both end objects for which you can't create a connection?

Yes. Let's say I have 3 ports: OUT1, OUT2 and IN1. I can connect OUT1 with OUT2, I can connect OUT1 with IN1, but I can't connect OUT2 with IN1...

I've deleted the part and created it again - now everything is fine... Maybe it was some kind of DB error...

Or it could be that the "locked" status got out of synch with the VC.
There is an option to synchronise those, that might have helped too.

The problem is with port instances and it has been fixed for the next release.

You should check out the Dilbert 2010 calendar entry for 10th January.  Where the secretary books a pre-meeting for the day after the meeting.

The last panel shows the secretary thinking: "There's a fine line between evil and under-paid."
