Lazy Load affects browser search
« on: April 16, 2010, 10:54:27 am »
Looks like the new Lazy Loading also affects the browser search.

If you search for something with the browser search - the search won't find find the item until it's been loaded - which I thought (in this case) was a function of the search.

Browser search needs to search the DB (like the real Model search does)

Steps:
Open a project (preferably with nothing much (pre-loaded - like diagrams)

Search for something you KNOW is in the repository.  Shouldn't be found.

Use Model Search to Find it.  Observe it's found.
Open the browser from Model Search (Lazy loading the package)

Repeat previous browser search.  Observe it now works.

Reported,
Paolo

Paolo,

I think I just experienced the same issue.
Searched for something in the project browser (that I knew existed) and found nothing.

I reported this bug with the first beta. And I did not have lazy load turned on explicitly. In fact I worked with an EAP file. I'll have to try with the final version 8 and see whether it's still there.

Just tested with the official V8. It does NOT work (on an EAP file). I searched with Ctrl-Shift-F for a name which I knew that it's in the model. No result. Then I searched with Ctrl-F. Name was found. Now positioning somewhere up in the model and repeat Ctrl-Shift-F. NOW it finds the element.

Why in hell do I report bugs if these guys simply do not correct them????

Because, like me you're a masochist?

Remember, if they didn't PUT the bugs there, we wouldn't find them...

I thought Lazy Loading was also implemented for EAP files this round...

That's why I thought it was Lazy Loading - I, too have found the problem on both EAP and Server repositories.

I always wondered why it was that fun playing with EA. That must be the reason.

From Sparx:

We have confirmed that this is an issue and it should be fixed in a future release of EA.

I didn't mention explicitely, but I got the same response when I reported this bug the very first time. They're still on the safe side. Just we interpreted "in a future release" as "the next release".

Well, like you b, I've been around Sparx long enough NOT to interpret "in a future release" as "the next release".

I'm just happy they've acknowledged the issue.  Probably, again like you, I've got bugs I reported 5 years ago not yet been addressed - let alone fixed.

While they're at it... I'd really appreciate a formal indication fro the search that it didn't find anything... Even if it's only on the status bar.
