WARNING: Interop.EA.dll version anomaly in 856
« on: May 05, 2010, 09:44:32 pm »
I just installed build 856.

Since I'm building Add-ins, I use Interop.EA.dll.  Because I develop across a number of machines with various environments, I keep a "local" copy of the file in a defined place and update it when it changes  and I need an update.  That way I get stability and (that word again) CONSISTENCY.

Now it doesn't change every release (or does it).  Anyway, I happened to know that the version of the file I'm currently building against is 2.10.238.1.  (You know how you keep these bits of trivia in your head...  ;))

So I hovered over the Interop.EA.dll in the Sparx installation directory and noted that the version was 2.10.238.1.  So it hasn't changed!

Then...  I happened to notice the file size...  My local copy of 2.10.238.1 (from July 2009) was 228Kb while the 2.10.238.1 (from May 2010) was 236Kb!!!!  ::)

Sparxians, one of the basic precepts of systems building is:  If something changes its version MUST change! If something doesn't change it's version must NOT change.

This is TOTALLY unacceptable!  Fix it pronto!  >:(

A fellow user remarked to me today (offline) that Sparx EA development seems "out of control".  This would appear (by definition) to prove his point!

Paolo
