Ports on partitions
« on: June 18, 2010, 01:04:42 am »
This is probably a bug, but I don't know in which area: If you create a partition in an activity diagram you can classify this partition. If the classifier is a SysML block (or a class) with ports the partition shows all the classifiers ports. Nice, I thought when discovering that. When you drag those ports on the diagram they dock at the according partition. Even nicer. Now I wanted to show the data flow between these ports. Bingo. "Both the Start and the End objects are locked. You can't..."

Now two questions: I've never seen partitions with ports. Do these exist in UML? If not, then EA is wrong in letting them create. If they exist, then why this message?

Who is responsible for which bug?

If you're using SysML, then UML rules do not apply.  (Regardless, EA always has allowed creation of models that the user wants but may not be UML compliant.)

The locked message relates to EA for many purposes treating port instances such as you have here as locked because they are only a representation of the original.  However, you should be able to specify flow between them.

So you suggest to submit the bug report for the second one?

[Edit] It's Friday, everyone's probably watching TV. I'll file that right now.
